Education Services

Tri-County Head Start provides children and families with a variety of education services through Center Based and Home Based options. The Center Based program has three and six hour sessions. Eight of our centers are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. This credential is the national standard for high quality pre-school programs. The Home Based program has weekly one and one-half hour visits and twice monthly socializations.

Tri-County Head Start provides children with experiences that prepare them for future success in Kindergarten. The curriculum focuses on eight domains of learning - literacy, language, mathematics, science, creative arts, social/emotional development, physical development and approaches to learning. We emphasize literacy through learning about letters, books and writing. The classrooms are rich in print with labels, charts, graphs, books, and writing centers. Children learn about numbers and practice classifying, ordering, patterning and counting with many kinds of materials and a variety of activities. Science areas offer opportunities to try out ideas, make observations and perform experiments.
