From the Directors Desk...

WOW! I cannot tell you how proud I am of the participation we have had in our program this year. You need to know that you all made a milestone this year with your children’s attendance. The Head Start Performance Standards state that children’s attendance for the week should average 85% or better. We have had many weeks very close to 85% and continue to see ADA in the 80% range! That means you all have made a decision to make sure your children come to school everyday. You are instilling in your children an emphasis on school attendance that will help them achieve many things in their future education. You deserve a pat on the back and an open invitation to continue achieving the goal of consistent attendance in Head Start. Way to go!

As the weather gets colder, please be sure to send your child with boots, hats and mittens. We do go outside everyday and continue to Build Strong Hearts at Tri-County Head Start through the I Am Moving I Am Learning curriculum.

All Kids Need:
Quiet Time

Some kids live in environments that are always busy. Such as a home with lots of siblings or guests, or where there is a home business. Some kids live in environments that are always noisy, such as living in the hub-bub of urban life.

As night time arrives, set the mood by saying “Now is quiet time: when the pace slows down, when we give extra respect to family
members and neighbors who might already be sleeping, we prepare our own bodies and minds for a good nights rest.”

Try It!
Make sure your child gets opportunities for quiet, peaceful times, and a good night’s sleep.
