The Tri-County Head Start Integrated Pest Management Program ensures that centers are routinely inspected and monitored for possible infestations of insects. Glue traps are used for mice as needed.

Locations are inspected by Orkin Pest Control bi-monthly on Saturdays when children are not in attendance. Inspections occur during the months of October, December, February, April, June and August on the following schedule:

2nd Saturday:
Bangor, Bloomingdale, Coloma, Decatur, Hartford
Lawton, South Haven and South Haven Peace Lutheran.

3rd Saturday
Cassopolis, Dowagiac, New Troy, Niles,
Northshore, St. Joseph and Spinks.

See school posting:
Gobles

If staff notice a problem they notify the Program Services Supervisor who contacts Orkin. Non-chemical methods are used for infestations whenever possible. If pesticides are needed, they are not used when children are present. Parents are notified in advance through classroom postings and letter home.
